Field: Biology
The research investigated the macrobenthic invertebrate communities in the mangrove swamps of Carles, Iloilo, Philippines, revealing that the most abundant species were the gastropods, particularly Telescopium telescopium, with Mollusca as the most dominant phylum followed by Arthropoda. Diversity and abundance varied by location, with Bancal proper recording the highest levels. The overall density of macro-benthic invertebrates was found to be 919 individuals per cubic meter, and the environmental conditions, characterized by favorable physico-chemical parameters, were deemed conducive for their growth.
