Field: Biology
This study explored the biodiversity of macrofungi at Mt. Opao, Carles, Iloilo, Philippines, by employing fixed plots and transect-line sampling methods across two sites from August to October 2023. The investigation identified six species within the prevalent Psathyrellacea and Marasmicaceae families, belonging to the phylum Basidiomycota, and highlighted differences in species richness, dominance, and diversity across the sites, with Station 2 exhibiting the greatest overall diversity and evenness. The study recommended the implementation of long-term monitoring programs to track changes in macrofungal diversity over time and assess the impacts of human activity and environmental factors.
