Field: Biology
The study examined the species composition and community characteristics of mangrove forests in Daculan, Estancia, Iloilo across two sites, identifying key species such as Avicennia marina, Sonneratia alba, and Rhizophora mucronata. Sonneratia alba demonstrated the highest importance values in both sites, supported by measures like stand basal area, plants per hectare, and count per plot, indicating its significant presence and ecological role. Environmental conditions such as pore water temperature, salinity, and pH were found to be conducive to the growth and survival of these mangrove species; however, the influence of the nearby village on the mangrove forests merits further investigation to ensure their ongoing vitality.
