Placuna placenta is broadly found in Oton, Iloilo, Philippines, but monitoring of its stock has not been done despite its recent resurgence. A study from August to December 2012 showed varying Catch Per Unit Effort (CPUE) in different barangays, with a significant increase in Brgy. Botong and a decrease in Brgy. Trapiche. Results revealed that Placunaplacenta shells above 7.1 cm were predominantly collected, suggesting a sustainable resource in the area as gatherers avoided immature shells under 6 cm and large shells over 15 cm for preservation.
