In a study conducted in 2011, bodyweight, mantle length, and sex composition of Sepia pharaonis and Sepia recurvirostra were analyzed from samples collected across different months in the Visayan Sea. The findings revealed a higher prevalence of S. recurvirostra (84%) compared to S. pharaonis (16%) within the sample population, with both species being predominantly male. The relationship between mantle length and body weight for both species was determined to be linear, and specific equations were derived to describe these relationships, contrasting with earlier studies that suggested an exponential relationship.
