Teacher Awareness on the Implementation of the School-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Management Program: Basis for a Proposed Action Plan

This study investigated the awareness level of teachers regarding the implementation of a school-based disaster risk reduction management program in public elementary schools in the Balasan District during the 2017-2018 school year. Utilizing descriptive research and a researcher-made questionnaire, the study assessed the awareness of 179 teachers about disaster risk management concerning six calamities: earthquake, typhoon, flood, tsunami, fire, and landslide. Statistical tools including frequency count, percentage, mean, median, standard deviations, Mann-Whitney U test, and Kruskal-Wallis H test were employed, with all significance levels set at a 0.05 alpha level.
